As beautiful as Winnetka is, it is as equally historic. Incorporated in 1869, the town was home to just 450 people. A national landmark, the Crow Island School, welcomed an incredible 10,000 students in 1938. Twenty-seven years later, in 1965, Martin Luther King, Jr., came to Winnetka. There’s a plaque dedicated to him on the Village Green, the local park where he spoke.
Now you have the chance to add your own story. Begin it by taking up residence in 543-561 Lincoln, a vintage building with new apartments (all on the 2nd floor) that begin with hardwood floors and a kitchen with built-in dishwasher and microwave.
Your home will be above a 1st floor that offers the great convenience of an on-site laundry room (for residents only), a dry cleaner, eye doctor and hair / nail salon. Also at street level, this address is home to a café, gourmet hot dog stand, a bistro and several retail shops. Perfect.
